Japan's Shinkansen ( bullet train)

martinjapan.blogspot.com

This is Japan's fastest high-speed train and it connects most of the major cities in Kyushu. Ever since it has opened in the year 1964, it has extended to Tokyo as well. When it first opened, the Shinkansen can already travel up to 2ookm/h but nowadays, it can travel up to 300km/h!What is even more amazing about this is that you would not even feel like the train is travelling so fast when you are in it. Also, for the comfort of the commuters, they provide food on them, and even a person catering drinks in a trolley, moving from carriage to carriage.

Below are a few types of shinkansens in Tokaido/Sanyo :

1. Nozomi: These trains are the fastest trains as they only stop at major stations. It travels between Osaka and Tokyo in approximately two and a half hours!

2. Hikari: These are the second fastest trains, stopping at only a few more stops than the Nozomi. It takes approximately 3 hours to travel between Osaka and Tokyo

3.Kodama: These trains are the slowest of all as it stops at every single station.

I have been on some of these Shinkansens on my previous Japan trips. The train is really comfortable and I dare say some are even better than a aeroplanes. There are really nice seats and their services are great too, the conductors always with a smile on their faces. Not only that, when you get onto the train, you would even be greeted by the staffs on the train. From my point of view, the Shinkansen is even better than a plane. It has spacious seats, friendly staff and even a toilet nicer and bigger than the plane's.
